A dental implant is commonly made of titanium and replaces the root of a missing tooth. Replacement teeth are then placed on the post to provide a natural, durable and esthetic replacement for your missing tooth or teeth.
All implants in our office are supervised from beginnning to end by Dr. Sajid Jivraj, an award-winning dental specialist and international authority on implant dentistry. He places each replacement tooth himself, making sure that the design and fit of the tooth is perfect.
Dr. Jivraj will design your implant treatment plan. While Dr. Jivraj is fully qualified to place the implant posts himself, he often partners with a trusted oral surgeon for this portion of the procedure. Then Dr. Jivraj places the replacement tooth on top, sometimes on the same day as the placement of the implant post.

Meet Dr. Saj Jivraj
As an International authority on Implant Dentistry, Dr. Jivraj has over 17 years of experience in this field.
British Native Dr. Saj Jivraj completed his dental degree at the University of Manchester in England in 1993 and his Advanced Prosthodontic training at the University of Southern California.
But amongst his many years of training and practice, his focus has been in advancing the subject of Implant Dentistry. To that end Dr. Jivraj has authored over two dozen articles as well as the textbook, "Treatment Planning in Implant Dentistry" for the British Dental Association.

The Benefits of Dental Implants
Not only does a dental implant fill unsightly gaps in a smile, they are also important to deter bone loss which will occur when a tooth is lost. The titanium post fuses with the bone preventing it from dissolving.
Fixed bridges and removable dentures are not the perfect solution to missing teeth and often bring with them a number of other problems.
When teeth are lost, the bone which held the roots of the teeth starts to dissolve, and so removable dentures — which use this bone for support—may slip or cause sores on the gums because the dentures will not be as stable.
Are you a candidate for dental implants?
The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant. Some people who have lost bone in their jaw can still get implants, but the bone must first be rebuilt using special bone-grafting procedures.
If your bone structure is adequate and bone-grafting is not required, the permanent dental implant, post and tooth restoration can be placed in one visit.
People who are currently wearing partial or full dentures can replace these with dental implants, or use implants to stabilize and secure the denture, making it much more comfortable.

Patients must realize that every doctor is licensed to perform any procedure, but most patients would not go to their primary care doctor for heart surgery or even treatment of skin cancer. In this age of marketing and hype patients must be very careful who they seek for complex dental treatment.
The reality is that sophisticated dental treatments that are available to patients today are very complex by nature. Oversimplifications of these treatments are done by those who do not have experience in ramifications of poor judgment.
